Some families have been returning to Currawong for over 30 years.  It could be the pristine beaches or spectacular nature trails. Perhaps fishing, kayaking or hitting balls around the golf course keeps people coming back.

Here we’ll tell you how to get here, what to bring and how to make the most of your stay. We want your stay at Currawong Beach Cottages to be as comfortable as possible.  Please note the terms and conditions.

Are fire pits and firewood available?

  • Gathering firewood is not permitted. You can either purchase your own dry, seasoned wood and bring it with you, or we can supply you with logs/kindling on request (for a fee).
  • The Rural Fire Service has stipulated that a complete fire ban applies during the fire season from October to March (inclusive) each year.

Can I bring my dog or other pets?

No – to protect our vulnerable native animals, pets are not allowed at Currawong State Park.

Can I invite day visitors?

Due to severe operational constraints at Currawong State Park, visitor numbers are strictly controlled.

If any guest wishes to invite day visitors, they must obtain prior express permission from Management. All visitors invited onto Currawong State Park must first report to the office on arrival. Management has the right to strictly limit the number of visitors.

Extra people, above the number of people you have registered and paid for, are not allowed to stay at Currawong State Park overnight. Allowing extra people to stay overnight will lead to the immediate termination of your booking and forfeiture of the balance of your booking payment.

Do you have mobile phone coverage?

There’s mobile phone coverage but no television or radio.

How do I get there?

Currawong offers you a uniquely secluded experience because it can only be accessed by water. You can take a 25 minute ferry ride from Palm Beach Wharf on Barrenjoey Road, or book the barge or Water Taxi.

If you are arriving by boat please book in advance one of the two slip ropes (for smaller boats) or the deep water mooring.

Is there native wildlife?

  • Visiting Currawong State Park is a wonderful opportunity to view some of our native animals up close in their natural habitat.  But children are very inquisitive and can be eager to get that little bit closer to these animals.
  • Please be mindful that they are native animals, used to their own habitat and natural foods.  Please do not feed the animals or leave food for them to forage.
  • Human food can make them sick and if they are expected to be fed by holiday makers, they can become aggressive.
  • Native animals are best viewed from afar.

What activities are at Currawong?

Swim, snorkel or fish in the beautiful sheltered beach on your doorstep. Keep active on our five hole golf course, tennis and volleyball courts. Explore Ku-ring-gai Chase (map), Mackerel Beach, The Basin and Coasters Retreat.

What do I need to bring?

Currawong is self-catered and has no shops so please bring your own supplies, linen and towels.

Linen can be available upon request (for a fee) when booking but we strongly recommend that you provide your own.  Provision of linen is dependent upon water availability at the time and we cannot guarantee that it can be provided.  Beds occupied without the use of bed linen will incur a washing charge.

Pack your sports equipment too as we’ve only a limited choice to loan. Bring a good torch as it gets very dark at night.

There’s mobile phone coverage but no television or radio.
