Council’s Waste Education Team wish to support your school to reduce waste, increase recycling and educate students on the environmental and health issues surrounding waste.

Excursions and incursions

Kimbriki Recycling and Resource Centre excursion

Kimbriki's passionate eco gardeners will cover composting, worms, soil, importance of recycling food waste at home and school, waste management and how students can make a difference to protect our natural environment. Included is a tour of Kimbriki's waste and recycling facilities.

Council will provide up to 2 buses/school/year for these excursions.

This program is suitable for primary and secondary students (Year 1 to Year 12)

1) first book your excursion with Kimbriki

2) get a quote from two bus companies, suggested companies;

3) Send your quotes to Waste Education

School canteens Swap for Good

Council offers a program to support your school canteen in the move away from single-use plastic.

Swap for Good includes information on alternative materials, education, resources, sustainable supplier lists, events and collaboration opportunities – all with the aim of providing ideas, solutions and alternatives to single-use plastics.

Plastic-free school canteen webinar

A guide to a plastic-free school canteen webinar was held on 19 November 2019.

The Litter Bug and Lisa the Litter Guard booklet

Follow Lisa the Litter Guard as she helps the Litter Bug learn about waste on the Northern Beaches. This 20 page booklet includes questions and activities and is suitable for primary age students.

Swap This For That

You may want to adopt our Swap This For That Campaign and encourage students to take The Pledge to reduce their personal use of single-use plastic.

Clean Up Australia - Schools Clean Up Day

Inspire students to learn about the impact of rubbish on their local environment while playing an active role in their community. Teachers and students can work together to clean up an area like a playground or local park.
