The Home Library Service helps those who are unable to visit the library because of age or disability maintain a vital connection to library services.

Home Library Service officers help select items for reading or listening, and deliver and collect library items on a regular basis.

Register for the Home Library Service

If you, or the person you care for, is unable to visit the library or carry library items home due to age or disability, you may be eligible for the Home Library Service.

To apply please fill out the Home Library Application Form below, email homelibraryservice@northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au with the name, address and contact number of the applicant, or call us on 8495 6888.

A medical certificate or statement signed by a doctor may be required to assess eligibility.

What happens next?

A Home Library Service Officer will contact you to arrange a time to meet and discuss the service details with you.

Staff or volunteers will then select your items according to your borrowing preferences and then deliver them to you. During this visit you can return any items that you have finished with.

Home Library Service membership is conditional upon agreeing to our terms and conditions.

Members will:

  • accept responsibility for all items borrowed on their card
  • have items ready for collection by our library staff or volunteer on or before the due date
  • avoid overdue items by contacting the library to renew loans if permissible
  • advise the library of any changes to their contact details including delivery address
  • advise the library of any changes to their circumstances affecting delivery, e.g. absence due to holidays, illness, etc.
  • pay replacement costs for any items lost or damaged

In the unfortunate event that a member breaches these membership conditions, the library reserves the right to restrict or ban access to library materials or terminate library membership.

These conditions of membership are subject to change without notice.
