Rhipidura leucophrys

The Willie Wagtail was named from the sideways wagging of its fantail. Their call is a sharp and lively with a musical tone of both high and low notes.

Wagtails eat insects and live in open forests, woodlands, water courses and wetlands. You may also see them in your garden.

The Willie Wagtail's nest is a neatly woven cup of grasses, covered with spider's web on the outside and lined internally with soft grasses, hair or fur.
