Energy Efficient Communities Program
The Empowering Homes solar battery loan offer closed on 31 July 2022.
Rebate swap for solar and energy efficient upgrades.
- If you are an eligible homeowner-occupier you can now swap your Low Income Household Rebate for a free, fully installed 3 kilowatt solar system.
- If you receive the Low Income Household Rebate and are not eligible for the solar offer, you could get a free, no-obligation energy assessment which could help you find ways to reduce your energy bill through energy efficient appliances or minor home upgrades, and then swap your energy rebate for one or more of the recommended upgrades.

The NSW Government's Energy Saver website offers discounts and incentives for households to reduce energy use and save on power bills.
There are subsidies available for:
Replacing appliances - You could be eligible for discounts on new energy efficient fridges and televisions. When you replace your old, inefficient model, you can receive 40% off the cost of a fridge or 50% off the cost of a television.
Lighting upgrades - Subsidies are available to replace halogen down-lights with LED down-lights (includes cost of LED lights and installation).
Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme
