Due to restrictions surrounding COVID-19 and the cancellation/postponement of events the Round 4 of funding did not proceed. 

2019/20 Recipients - Round 3 Funding

At the Council meeting on 17 December 2019 Council agreed to the following funding and fee waivers through the Events Grants Program 2019/20, to support organisations to hold community events on the Northern Beaches.

Lifeline Northern Beaches

 Tarp-O-Rama

 A community event with the focus on mental health awareness to help those in crisis and those affected by those in crisis. This event is to promote great community spirit, fundraising and youth engagement by participating in skating, scootering, riding, hopping, skipping through three 12m x 12m tarp's. The event also includes local talent DJ's, bands, local stall holders, local food vendors, other mental health service providers. The vision for Tarp-O-Rama for Lifeline is to be a mental health awareness festival rather than a skating contest.

Manly Malibu Boardriders Club

Snowy McAlister 33rd Surfing Festival

A longstanding surf competition held over the June long weekend in Manly, now coming in to its 33rd year. The Snowy McAlister Winter Surfing Festival originated in honour of Charles Justin ‘Snowy’ McAlister, the ‘father of Australian Surfing’. The event includes 10 divisions including men's, women's juniors, age specific and specialty events.

In its 3rd year, previously named the Cliffside Festival. A community event supporting Mental Fitness and bringing awareness to the importance of family, connection and health. The event features a 3km, 5km, 10km run/walk plus other activities in Griffith Park for family and individuals.

Lifeline Northern Beaches

 Lifeline Northern Beaches Classic

A community surfing and fundraising competition with all monies raised used to fund Lifeline Northern Beaches local crisis support services. Teams compete in a fundraising competition with the winning teams having priority of choice for surfing identities and professionals (who donate their time) to join their team on the day of the competition. The event is now in its fourth year. 

Fee waiver for of $841 for water safety

Mona Vale Chamber of Commerce

 Mona Vale Autumn Festival 2020

Annual Autumn Festival which is a jazz music festival with a variety of general and food stalls operated by local businesses. The 2020 event will also include the addition of the Northern Beaches Youth Sport and Lifestyle Festival in parallel to make the event even more targeted at families. The combined events are expected to attract over 7,000 people to the area.

Special Olympics Australia Sydney Northern Beaches

Special Olympics NSW Swimming Competition hosted by Sydney Northern Beaches Club

The State Swimming competition to be held at the Warringah Aquatic Centre will bring together up to 150 athletes with an intellectual disability from across the state and the ACT. This is the highest level competition for Special Olympics athletes in NSW. The funding request is for the cost of venue hire.

Barrenjoey Peninsula Week of Golf

 Barrenjoey Peninsula Week of Golf 2020

This event has been running for 38 years and is the biggest amateur golf event for women in the Southern Hemisphere. The event is played across 7 Northern Beaches Golf Courses and hosts over 620 female participants from both the Northern Beaches as well as intrastate, interstate and even some international players. This Tournament is sanctioned and advertised through the Golf NSW and Golf Australia websites. It is a prestigious Jean Derrin Golfing event. The funding request is to grow the event to two new courses.

Northern Beaches Music Festival 2020

The Northern Beaches Music Festival is an annual, not for profit, community based music festival that has been successfully operating annually since 2011. It has been created through the amalgamation of seven not for profit music and folk clubs on the Northern Beaches. The event involves local musicians including young and up and coming local artists, national and international performers, community groups, disability groups, local schools, TAFE and university students, indigenous and other multicultural groups. The festival is supported by local businesses.

An annual huge Easter egg hunt with over 10,000 Easter eggs, games and other activities. The afternoon is providing an Easter event for families on the Northern Beaches that is free to attend and to celebrate all things Easter. The funding request is to grow the event profile with further infrastructure.

All About YOUth

An annual forum for young people to engage, empower and inspire them for what lies ahead. Followed with a community engagement session for parents and other community members. The event will feature a combination of guest speakers, interactive workshops and consultation input for local services. Students will be drawn from local high schools across the Northern Beaches to participate in the program. Numbers are limited to 200 students.

$6,400 one year sponsorship + Up to $400 Fee Waiver

Surfing NSW

Australian Surfing Uni Games & Northern Beach Junior Regional Titles

A surf competition for all University students on the Northern Beaches. All disciplines are included, Shortboard, Longboard, Bodyboard, SUP. All teams based. Local community engagement activities. The Regional Titles are the starting point and pathway to the NSW Grommet State Titles, NSW Junior State Titles and Australian Junior Titles open only to local residents.

Dogs in the Park NSW

Dogs in the Park Northern Beaches

Event promoting responsible dog ownership. Activities include dog demonstrations, market stalls, dog competition, educate on dog behaviour and local rescue dogs. To be held at Rowland Reserve, Bayview on 3 November 2019.

This event will see the band (Ocean Alley) put together and headline an event consisting of local music, market stalls, food vendors and community groups, raising money for local charities such as Cerebral Palsy Alliance and One Eighty and giving the Northern Beaches a stellar line up of music to enjoy. To be held at Rat Park, North Narrabeen on 16 November 2019.

Sydney Chamber Music Festival 

A three day arts and music festival presenting world class performances by some of Australia's finest musicians, puppeteers and artists. The event has been running for 11 years and is held at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum. Concerts to be held from 18 to 20 October 2019.

A two week art festival held across the Newport business precinct. The festival program has been designed to activate the entire Newport business area and includes music and performances as well as the revitalised Newport creative trail, ‘Great Newport Art Race’ and inter-generational Art Competition ‘20/60’. To be held from 1 to 5 November 2019.

New event held at JJ Melbourne Hills Memorial Reserve, Terry Hills. Shredfest is the premier BMX & Mountain Biking Festival presented by the cycling community of the Northern Beaches. Features Professional and Amateur racers, mountain biking cross country event, children’s balance bike activities, track and jump challenges and retro BMX racing show.
