In addition to the two planned grant rounds, Council put in place a "fast track" process for the Event Grants and Sponsorship Program in an effort to support the return of events following the easing of NSW Health restrictions.

  • Round 1 - Council awarded $35,401.63 in grant funding plus and additional $11,044 in fee waivers
  • Round 2 - Due to COVID-19 restrictions events in this round were impacted in various ways and did not progress with funding.

Scoping out the Night Sky

International Dark Sky Week is a celebration of the night sky, inviting people all around the world to get outside and enjoy the heavens above. During this 2 hour family-friendly event, residents of the Northern Beaches will be invited to bring along their telescopes and binoculars and learn what is in the night sky.

Rotary Art Show 

An art show event over a weekend, with an opening event on the Friday night through to a closing on the Sunday afternoon. Invite a selection of local artists to submit works, which would be sold to the public over the event. Rotary would take a commission of the sale proceeds, a % that would be pre agreed with the artists.The funds raised to defined charities already supported by RCUNB, and the charities being supported would be included in the promotion of the event.

An event presented on the first Tuesday of every month at the new look, Henry's Rooftop at Manly Steyne Hotel. The warm atmosphere at Henry’s Bar is a safe and friendly environment offering an opportunity to mingle with friends, make new friends, relax and be entertained by the eclectic and talented storytellers. The event creates a community where sharing real stories, based on a theme, brings us together and helps us to feel connected. Enjoy drama, fun, laughter and have a chance to be a part of something different here on the Northern Beaches. As Human Beings we are a social species, we need to be connected, it is a human given and storytelling is the part of our DNA that makes us so unique.

Aboriginal Support Group Manly Warringah Pittwater 

SORRY DAY

A commemoration of the Stolen Generations where the community is invited to share in the ceremonies and activities for adults and children. These include the traditional welcome of the Smoking Ceremony, Aboriginal dancing, didgeridoo music, local Aboriginal girls singing, painting of boomerangs for children, and free gifts for the children and a guest speaker (to be announced) to talk on the Stolen Generation. A barbeque and afternoon tea in the spirit of Indigenous hospitality will follow the main activities. Invitations are extended to all council members.

Bilgola Surf Life Saving Club Inc. 

Bands by the Beach

Open to the Public and its members on the last Sunday of every month, the surf club will have local bands play for 2-3 hours and serve food and drinks. The family friendly events will run from approx 3pm - 7pm and give the club opportunity raise funds to be spent on updating furniture and improving function rooms.

2021 Lifeline High Schools Surf Challenge

High schools from the Northern Beaches are invited to compete in the 2021 Lifeline High Schools Surf Challenge being held at South Curl Curl Beach on Friday, 26 March 2021. On top of crowning the Boys and Girls Champions on the day, the top four teams in both divisions will qualify to the 2021 Sydney Surf Pro at Manly to surf-off for a spot in the 2021 Lifeline Classic. The winning boys and girls high school teams will also receive a Lifeline ‘Accidental Counsellor' training session provided by qualified Lifeline counsellors.

Collaroy Seaside Scavenge

A fun and educational clean-up event where litter collected from Collaroy waterways and surrounding parklands will become the currency for a pop-up market. The overall objective of the event is to engage a new audience within the Collaroy and wider Northern Beaches community with the theme that waste is a valuable resource and connect participants and spectators with the circular economy principles.

Narrabeen Lakes Summerfest

An annual community festival directed at all age groups and held at an accessible venue. It has free public entry, a public stage with performances by local amateur and professional dance/singing groups, such as Irish, Serbian, learning to dance/singing groups, schools, community performance groups, bands and individual performers. The event gives an opportunity for local businesses and community groups to showcase themselves and market their organisation or products.

Northern Beaches Open - Surfing NSW Inc. 

Australian Open of Surfing 

The 2020 Australian Open of Surfing events were created for Australia’s best surfers in iconic Australian surf locations. It is the perfect platform for professional and grassroots surfers to come together in Australia to compete in a series of events in decent locations to gain momentum coming into 2021 with plans to build this series each year into a prestigious title and tour. The series consists of four events in NSW all of which are held across two days of competition. The Northern Beaches Open will be the final stop of the series and therefore decide the NSW - Australian Open of Surfing Champion Male and Female.

Pittwater Spring Market

Special market to be held at Winnererremy Bay Park on Sunday 29 August 2021, 10am-3pm. This event will launch Spring to the local community. The activation will bring the community together after winter and launch into Spring with 150 stalls plus inflatable rides for the kids as well as busker style music. The market will support 130 small businesses with the majority from the Northern Beaches LGA with local businesses having preference for stalls. The market will target local communities of Mona Vale and surrounding suburbs of the Northern Beaches. It is a happy wholesome family day out.
